New RS counselor's link to the Utah legislature

Newly called RS First counselor Carole Stephens is the wife of former Utah House Speaker Marty Stephens. While I recall the name, I don't associate him with crazies like Chris Buttars. A little more research shows that he was either a moderate or at least a conservative who could stand up to Gayle Ruzicka:

When Jackie Biskupski was elected to the House, butt-inski Gayle Ruzicka tried to pressure Stephens not to seat her---based solely on her orientation---and Stephens refused to cave in. He also authored Utah's campaign finance bill about twenty years ago.

I wonder if the TSCC is sending a message by Stephens' selection that they oppose (however weakly) the Gayle Ruzicka style of power grabbing?
