I cracked up at Obama wondering who uses the word "marvelous." I never really thought about what a Mormon word that is. Wrinkley Hinckley loved that word, "Isn't it marvelous, isn't it wonderful," of course on the heels of the gospel being referreed to as a marvelous work and a wonder.

Me thinks people are going to get more of an introduction to Planet Mormon through Romney's nuances.

How about Mittens suggesting that "the sick should rise from their beds of affliction" without the help of any kind of medicare?

After reading "Another Roadside Attraction",

http://www.amazon.com/Another-Roadside-Attraction-Tom-Robbins/dp/0553349481

as a teanager I always snickered at it's use in church. For those who haven't read the book, one of the principal characters is Marx Marvelous. He chose the name specifically because it would be despised by the conservative status quo. "Marx" because of it's association with Karl Marx and communism. And "marvelous" because it was the "gayest" word he could think of.

He also made a quote about how Obama is removed from every day voters. Then, he is quoted (I thought this sounded a bit "churchy") . . . "Years of flying around on Air Force One, surrounded by an adoring staff of true believers telling you what a great job you are doing . . ." "True believers" was an odd term to use.

I have a visual of Mitt looking at himself in the mirror and giving his reflection the double finger-gun with a head tilt and a wink and saying, "You look... mahvelous!"

The soundtrack accompanying the visual sounds nothing like Mitt and exactly like Billy Crystal parodying Fernando Lamas.

I was caring for a little old lady and we were watching the afternoon news when the whole "marvelous" thing hit. I knew instantly where Mitt got the word. Remember Hinkley's Mike Wallace interview a few years ago when he described the restored gospel and said, "Isn't it wonderful? Isn't it MARVELOUS?!"

MSNBC commentators kept referencing the joke as originating with Billy Crystal's comic schtick a few years back. He'd tell people in an affected voice, "You look MARVELOUS darling!"

I wanted to scream at the TV, "No, you got it wrong dummies! Marvelous is a Mormon term. M.O.R.M.O.N. Do you hear me????"

Anyway, my little lady snorted every time the clip came on. I wanted to explain the whole mess that is Mormonism to her sooooo badly. But of course that would be unprofessional of me, so I kept my yap shut . . . . And we ended up having a MARVELOUS afternoon anyway. tee hee.

;o)

So what does "Even (whoever)" ...um... EVEN mean, anyway? "We say these things in the name of Thy son, even the Lord Jesus Christ". What is the point of the "even" in there?

That perplexes me too. I have never figured out where that came from or whathehell it is supposed to mean. Does that place more importance on it or something? But I've never heard anyone but old geezer mormon men speak like that.
