Not only are the print and TV ads showing models in sleeveless and short dresses, but *gasp* the stores are selling them! Someone who works at one of these stores told me a couple of women came in Sat and complained that their dresses could not be worn with garments!

Did these people really think that the stores would only be selling clothes to TBM's?

You're schittin me right? They spend all those billions of dollars and close on Sunday? Is it the whole mall? Do they make the anchor stores close? Inconceivable!

A couple of restaurants are open on Sunday. That's all. News reports last night said lots of people went down there and were trying to go into some shops and were disappointed that they were closed. Yes, the anchor stores had to agree to close on Sunday in order to be a tenant in City Creek.

I also heard a tidbit about a small child in Tiffany's...don't know if something got broken or what, but some mormon parents have NO boundaries when it comes to their children running wild, and the negative comments about this behavior is already starting to be heard.

So much for City Creek being an upscale shopping area...haha.

The dresses are sleeveless? Oh no!

Just another example of how some Utah mormons think the world revolves around them.

As I entered from main street there is a little section of tables out by the curb with a gate that says " City Creek Patrons Only).

All tables were empty except for two worldly looking young men sitting there. Security came over and rousted them out. Later while leaving two middle age guys with were sitting unmolested. Neither had any packages or food. No way to tell who is a patron.

I guess they are trying to keep the rif raf out.

when I was a young RM, I had my ass torn off of by a Temple Pres because I wore Jeans and a Polo shirt ( new, and very clean) into the temple.
I hadnt planned on going to the temple that time. In fact I never wanted to go back to the GOD DAMN Hell house place, but I did it to accomodate my convert who made the request as we happened to be driving past the temple that day.

WHERE is this ASS HOLE temple pres NOW? to RIP on LDS Inc for these Mall ads. My clothes were FAR MORE modest than this!

The ad on the right is from the Gateway center which feels compelled to respong to City Creek Center.

its says "Gateway Mall, Everbody's Downtown"
in contrast to CCC elite members only approach.

Temple President: "Sorry, your clothing may be modest and clean but it's not fancy enough for you to enter this large and spacious building."

Good grief ! As a teenager going to early morning necrodunkings in the Salt Lake temple, I wore jeans and T-shirts and nothing was ever said about it.

Abercrombie & Fitch?

Just wanting to know how far the pimping will go. We see the nicely coordinated grand opening backed up against General Conference so that the target audience of outoftown elite will be able to come early and drop some scrill for the building of the Kingdom.

So the "owners" of City Creek want to patrol their lounging areas and probably modesty too...won't this be funny to see.

Next they will be scratching their heads wondering what they can do to bring more suitable patrons...golden shoppers? Lol!

Nothing unusual there. Temple married garment wearing Mormons are probably only about 20% (I'm guessing, of course) of their shoppers anyhow.

It was on the news here that there is a dress code for the mall... wth? How and who enforces that? Do you also have to get a reccomend to shop there too? Good gosh!

Probably most malls have minimal dress codes -- i.e. no bare chests, no bathing suits, etc.

Sleeveless? Wear a little cardigan/bolero/"shrug" over it. Too short? Wear it over a pair of jeans or some leggings. Tah dah. Problem solved.

Or a tee shirt under the sleeveless low cut top. I hate that! So tacky.

I agree, that's so tacky. Sure, there might have been a fad in the mid 90's for a shirt under a spaghetti strap dress, but that only lasted for a year or so outside of Utah.

My sisters friends were kicked out for having exposed tatoos on their arms. I heard this second-hand. Can anyone verify that they have a no tatoo policy?

I am sure many TBM think it is their mall since the church paid for it. I bet many youth are going to start wearing more provacative clothes because they bought them in the Jesus Mall near the Temple built by the Prophets.

Yes, it's all too complicated for me. Let's see...you can buy a low-cut, sleeveless, short dress at a mall store, but you can't walk out of the store wearing it, and sit at the little tables, but you can buy liquor and drink at the tables on Sundays in tight pants and a skimpy, bra-showing BYU tee shirt, and act like a child, as long as you don't have tattoos, but you can't go into the other stores on Sundays....

Our way is simpler. We're simply boycotting the mall. We can't afford Tiffany's, but our friends can. Our wealthy friends go to San Francisco and New York to shop. We shop mostly online.
