My 10 year old asked: Dad, how old is the earth?

I didn't know if this was going to be a church question or not so I hesitanly replied:

"Four and half billion years?"

"Wrong! it's 4.6 billion years!"

Then a short pause and she says: "oh yeah, that's pretty close to four and a half billion, you're pretty smart Dad!"

I guess real science is being taught even in Utah County schools.

I think we are planning a visit to my sister in North Hollywood this summer. This looks like a perfect side trip. Thanks for the link.

just show a pic of the Grand Canyon, explain that it was FLAT pretty much & became a CANYON b/c of Erosion....

If that doesn't do it, show a pic of a fossilized dinosaur (or a real skeleton.

If neither of those works, go to cleon skousen/ 6K years, that should quiet any curiosity.
