When I was a morgbot I was also a YBU fan. The one thing that I always wondered about, especially when YBU seemed to simply run out of gas towards the end of a football game and ended up losing because they just didn't have the stamina to keep going while the team they were playing just seemed to run all over them with plenty of stamina to finish the game, was why doesn't YBU dominate in sports.

Doesn't the WOW promise, "shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;

19 And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;

20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint."?

I would think that if the church is true, and JS was a prophet rather than a profit, that YBU college athtletics would simply dominate. But that is not nor has it ever been the case. In fact YBU other than a few glory years here and there have had meager at best college athletics. The one thing that seems to be the standard at YBU is the fact that they never seem to have the stamina to keep a winning pace through the entire game.

Anyway, I was reminded of how I used to feel when I was a fan after seeing that they lost last night and I just thought I would bring it up here.

That's the other side of the coin. If Mormons don't win at everything, then they are losing because they are so persecuted. I have no idea about BYU sports, but that's how it always seems to work out in the minds of my TBM family.

Satan is upon the Gatorade. Duh it has water in it!

They could only dominate in football in 1984--I love the irony of that.

I know this seems a bit ridiculous, but I thought the same way! Why doesn't BYU win bowl games (Lavell was terrible in bowl games, 7-19 or something like that). Basketball was even worse, we got invited to the dance more times and lost more times and had the longest losing streak of any school.

Anyway, then a gentle and subtle thought entered my closed mind...

God loves the other team also!

AND, maybe the whole thing isn't true so why would God support and prop up a false entity?

I moved past all that anyway. Funny to think about now.

You forgot the part about them having health in their navels and marrow in their bones.

While BYU football players most certainly took steroids, they might not have taken as many as other school's players. Since winning at athletics is frequently about being the best substance-abusing cheater, maybe it speaks to their integrity if they're perennial losers, lol.

I always assumed it was those scandalous jerseys.

I, too, have wondered why--if the church is the only true church on the face of thee earth--why would the church keep changing so many of its policies and doctrines?

I just love it when teams pray to win. Not just mormon teams. Any teams. There they are, both teams praying to some god or other to win. What kind of stupid is that?

Maybe the other teams pray harder, the Mormons taking it for granted that God would want their team to win...

Or, maybe the other teams pray to the right God, not Mormon God?

Or, maybe there is no God and nobody is there to answer prayers, but whilst the Mormons are busy praying, the other teams are busy training.

Or, maybe there is no God and nobody is there to answer prayers, but whilst the Mormons are adherering to the letter of the interpretation of the WoW, the other teams are doing gear...

No, god hears both sides. Then he flips a coin.

I used to ask this question to rabid ybu fans.

Answers: They are being humbled.

It would make people not like the church if they won all the time

The other team needs the blessing more than them

It's NOT about football.

God just wants wholesome football exposure of his church

The football gifted need a school to go to that supports both football and religion. It doesn't matter if they win.

The FB players need a mo school to find a wife.

No kidding! pretty crazy huh?

If mormons say that BYU is god's school i'll tell them that BYU is named after a creepy polygamist. While Notre Dame is named after Jesus' mother. Who would Jesus cheer for? His mother or some dipshit polygamist who thought Quakers lived on the moon?

...who just loves Jesus so much, even though he apparently forgot the part in the Bible that says when you pray, don't do it out in public, but rather enter into a private place and do it in secret.
