Well the season has ended. We did ok as a team...We had some very good players as well as some that improved greatly.

Here are my observations:

1 kid was so bogged down with stuff to do during the week that he rarely made it to my practices.

The mormon parents would rarely talked to me even when I tried engage them and ask them questions.

Whenever I had to change practices (which I tried to avoid, but it was unavoidable), I always got..."Johnny has YM's." or "Johnny has church activities that night."

Early on in the season, I told my son how much fun I had as a kid at the end of season parties which I don't see out here. I told my son we could do this after our season...BUT...I could NEVER get parents to call me back and they ALWAYS wisked their kid away immediately after a game or practice.

For the last game of the season...2 kids did not show up. One kid had a winter scout camp out so he missed the game. The other kid...I don't know. Now as a kid, I took my responsibilities as a team player seriously as a commitment I made to the team. I also instill this in my son.

So I understand if kids have stuff planned. I guess scouts is more important than a Jr. Jazz B-ball team but the PARENTS should still CALL the coach and let him know.

Mormons are weird...and rude. So they raise their kids to be the same way towards nonmos.

Thx for letting me vent..

My kids played Jr. Jazz basketball.
I didn't care which teams were winning.
I just enjoyed the fact that my kids were having a lot of fun.
And I didn't even talk to any mormon parents at those games.

"And I didn't even talk to any mormon parents at those games."

So when I played ball (baseball) in Calif way outside of the morridor, it was much more fun in the aspect that all the parents were at the games and talked with each other and the coaches.

The end of season parties were fun. The kids (me at the time) ran amok at a pizza joint or someone's house with a pool, and the parents/coaches all hung out talking, drinking, having a good ol time.

Here????????...it's just ANOTHER activity for their kids......
So what that billy can't make the last game. It's not like the coach is even LDS or anything so why bother calling him to let him know...(projecting here..)

My brother just ended his season.

The funniest thing I saw were loads of righteous priesthood holders losing their collective @#$%& and screaming profanities at the refs.

Model Christian behavior, right there.

Out where I live, the teams don't have an end of season party, they just go to the BIG party later this month at the Energy Solutions Arena, where all the Jr. Jazz players from all over UT go, MAYBE get to meet a player. My husband and I decided to forgo that "party" it just didn't seem like a lot of fun and I really think most of the kids would rather have a little party with just their team and some treats.

Yes when I played ball (back in the "olden" days)...there was MUCH MORE camraderie (sp?) than I've ever seen here. With the looks on the parents faces bringing their kids to practices and games...it is such a chore for them and the kids pick up on that.

This isn't the first time I've seen kids (their parents really) skip the LAST game of the season.

For me (as a kid) and my dad then...that was inexcusable with the exception of a serious illness or unexpected emergency...

Like I said earlier...stuff happens and kids get over booked. Scouts IS important here in the morridor but I did expect a call letting me (the coach) know...
