Wow! That is really fascinating! Things could get really interesting in the near future concerning mormonism and the political scene! I am loving every minute of it! : Is that diabolical of me to be getting so much satisfaction out of all the undesired publicity the church is getting because of Romney's run for the whitehouse??
Interesting: "Rubio spokesman Alex Conant confirmed the story to BuzzFeed, and said Rubio returned to the Catholic church a few years later with his family, receiving his first communion on Christmas day in 1984 at the age of 13."
I'd love to know what made them leave after having converted and, according to the article, having been very enthusiastic Mormons. Interesting too that it says his father never converted...wonder if there was only so far they could go in the church if the father was not a member and (presumably) would not tithe?
This is hilarious to me. Still technically Mormon, dude! You're just inactive. Man, yeah. Definitely isn't going to be on the Romney ticket now... People don't understand (yet) that you don't just stop being Mormon. Either way, if Romney picked him, that's all the press would harp on, two Mormons on the same ticket.
Do you have a link for the livestream of the Maher show? Email his program the polyandry material.....they would love it if they haven't already done some research.
Now I know Romney will pick Rubio. Since he is still on the roles, it is the only way old Marco can be effectively love bombed. I wonder if Mitt will be secretly leaving cookies on his VPs front door all the time.
Only on Fast Sunday in order to tempt Rubio to break the commandments. Well the good news for Rubio is that he'll still be a Mormon until age 110 unless he sends his letter to Greg Dodge and jumps through all the hoops we all must jump through to get that bureaucracy to honor our requests. Personally I threatened to sue Dodge's office and any of the subsequent people who got involved unnecessarily in my resignation process. Instead Dodge's office sent my resignation letter (which I had notorized and sent by Priority Mail with the confirmation receipt) to an old address of mine in Virginia where the Bishop (who is the President of the BYU Alumni Association) and the Stake President (who is the SP for both of my US Senators) who had my membership records for the past few years then sent my membership records to the Ward/Stake for an address in Utah where I had never lived up to that time. They in turn told my mom who gossiped it all to my family/friends. I wonder if Rubio would be given the runaround like I was given.
It's so freaking embarrassing to be Mormon as a Cuban. I too grew up in Miami, and converted to Mormonism at 15, and it is the most embarrassing thing in my life whenever I return to Florida. For years while I was active my friends and family would joke about me being "the Mormon." Cubans view the Mormons as really nice people but something like the Amish. Its so incongruent with everything that goes along with being Cuban--Cuban coffee, hot temper, cuss words, dark humor, opposition to communism (Mormonism is communist at its roots). You just can't imagine how much any Cuban ex-Mo would want to hide having been a Mormon!! It's as embarrassing as knowing everyone has seen you naked.
