I never got to do it as a teenage boy, or as a college student, because of my beliefs. Now, I don't want to put up anything playboy, or even Maxim, (I still have a child in my house) but I want to put up a few somewhat tasteful pictures of cute girls in cute outfits. Does this sound strange for someone in their 30s?

Very strange.

Why wouldn't you want the Maxim or playboy pictures?

;)

My best male friend has some beautiful canvases of some gorgeous but tasteful playboy-ish women. I think it's hot!

Carmen.

I have pictures of the First Presidency on my walls. But I've pasted boobs from Playboy centerfolds on their chests.

I'm in my forties and I have a muscled, shirtless and glistening Mr February, aka 'Troy,' from the local hot firemen calendar up on the wall behind my desk.

... but it's a fund raising calendar, I just bought it to support local charity... cough... ahem... ;-)

I think many of us missed normal childhood experiences either because of all the rules, or we were at church so much. I don't think there is anything wrong with living some of those things out. Within reason of course.
My hangup as an adult, is I can't stand for anyone to borrow my clothes. I never had anything of my own. If someone else lends out my things it really pushes my buttons. I have probably come across as being selfish a times, because I insist on having some things that are just mine.

I also like art supplies. Can't have too much. The time and space to use them is also important. It's a matter of filling a childhood need to express myself.

Why not buy some prints of famous paintings that feature beautiful women?

That would be a good idea for the front of the house. I want to get the famous one of Marylin Monroe on the air vent.

Reminds me of the famous painting by Goya "La Maja Desnuda" of a nude woman laying on a bed. Back in the days of the blue-noses when people were being arrested for sending birth control information through the U.S. Mail the painting (which showed, *gasp*, pubic hair) was considered obscene and not allowed to be sent through the U.S. Mail.

However, in Spain it was issued as a postage stamp.

Mormonism is a product of puritain New England. So overzealous modesty was codified into Mormonism at an early stage. I have always wondered if that had something to do with JS's polygamy. He was "like a God" to the Mormons and could get away with just about anything if he could make them think God was behind it. Maybe the puritanical approach made for too much "forbidden fruit" consciousness which lead to the polygamy revelation.

Many, many years ago, when I was newly divorced and newly exmormon, I did just that (posted a bunch of photos of beautiful, scantily-clad women on my bedroom walls).

Unfortunately, female guests were often less than pleased to see my art gallery.

I ended up taking them all down.

Yeah they have to be very tasteful, and either paintings or drawings instead of photos for most women to be okay with it inside your home. Now in the garage some might be more open to photos and more raunchy.

That's my fear. I am also thinking about doing it by hanging vintage movie posters, in those little black frames, then including some that have some really hot actresses among the lot.

when I got back together with my nonmo boyfriend after 28 years and being married to someone gay--I went in his bathroom and there were some very tasteful pictures of females scantily clad and I wasn't so sure I liked them. Then he told me he bought playboy now and then. I had a kneejerk reaction to both and then it occurred to me--I want a man who DESIRES A WOMAN rather than some namby pamby mormon guy. It changed my whole perspective.

Good for you.

I keep all my porn in my sock drawer where it belongs.

I say go for it. We exmos have a lot of catching up to do, and that's what you're doing - catching up on real life. You weren't allowed to be a normal teen but now you can do some catching up by hanging whatever you want on your walls!

I had a Charlie Dimmock Calendar.

Charlie is a famous TV gardener in the UK and is quite a babe, too.

The Marilyn Monroe one you mentioned is a great idea. As long as you can do it without it seeming tacky, it would be a great thing to incorporate a love for the female form (or male form too) into the way you decorate your house.

Why don't you put them up in your garage?
That's where my married brother has his, along with his Jaegermeister dispenser. His wife thinks it's cute.

As an added bonus, you can see the naked girls whenever you handle your tools.

Why not just meet a bunch of hot women and "hang out" in your room. Trust me, it is a lot better. :)

...of my friend when I was 14 or 15, back in the mid-60s. He had cool parents (not Mormons, of course). My friend was caught looking at his dad's Playboy stash. The parents thought it over. They gave the magazines to my friend and said, "Do whatever you want with them." He covered most of his walls with the pictures. I was astounded. A few months later he took them down. When I asked why, he shrugged and said they weren't so interesting anymore.

Related to this, back in the mid-80s, my girlfriend gave me a framed print from a photo exhibit. It had 24 pairs of photos of the photographer's friends. One photo of each friend was in clothing and the other was of the same pose, only naked. I still have that print. It hangs over my bed. Not only is it not titillating anymore, I can go for months without being conscious of its content. Oh yeah, there are 24 naked people in my room, across from the photo of my mother. So?

So, what lesson do we learn from this, brothers and sisters?

After my disaffection and divorce(in that order), I toyed with the idea of strategically posting various iconic representations of what I deemed to be ideal female models. I settled on one. It is a modestly large poster of Grace Kelly in her prime. It embodies everything I was looking for and does not offend the TBM sensibilities of my four grown daughters who find no problem with its display and actually admire my choice.

This topic reminded me of an experience a few years ago.

A good friend of mine encouraged me to "upgrade" my art collection and begin collecting quality art from gay erotic artists. It is my house and I might as well have what I like hanging on the walls. A few years ago we were burglarized and the cops came to investigate. At one point one of the cops was staring at one of the large pieces hanging on the wall. I just shook my head and said "officer stop staring at the erotic art it will just mess with you". He shot back "No NO I really like this one".

You'd be surprised. The best cop I ever knew was a semi-open gay police sergeant. Then there are the rumors about a legendary SWAT officer who has a hello kitty obsession.
