I did not get the chance to comment on the earlier thread so here are some thoughts.

Also, it bothers me when discussions start about men and the church and people instantly jump in announcing that women have it worse as if it is some kind of comparison contest. Not saying this happened in the previous thread, but I see it from time to time. So I want to keep the spotlight on the men's unique issues for a little longer.

1) Women have it worse in the church, but men are without a doubt emasculated and the gender roles and culture are unhealthy.

2) In my opinion, the church has changed with the times to be less male-dominated in the modern age (but still the usual 30 years behind the rest of the U.S. culturally, which is 30 years behind Europe).

3) They still hold the priesthood and all the real positions, but you at least see talks about how unrighteous dominion is not the way of the Lord. At least doctrinally, I believe the church covers its bases and makes being a domineering husband a no-no. But as we all know, it still happens.

4) As a result, we now have women dominating the men, using every persuasive tactic under the sun to coerce them into living all the rules. It is all out of the women's FEAR, and is sick, sick, sick.

5) It means absolutely nothing to have the priesthood, and to "protect" your family and "provide" for them. Protect them from what, bandits?

6) Single-income living is just plain dumb dumb dumb. I bragged that my wife would never work, and it sent us straight to the poorhouse and destroyed my self-image when I lost my job and ran into hard times. What do you expect when you aren't fulfilling your sole function?

7) The church and its cult-like system of subtle control is the true emasculating agent, but peer pressure from other men and again the wife's unrelenting fear and anxiety support and exacerbate it.
