I have a problem with Religion & Money

The LDS Church is inordinately obsessed with getting a prescribed amount of money in from its members.

It then uses this money (directly or indirectly) commercially.
The examples are too numerous to mention.

Do any other religions have a similar focus on money?

I've not been to very many churches(once to a Methodist, once to a Presbaterian (sp?)), they all "pass the plate". The thing is, this money stays there to pay the Pastor, Choir Director, custodians(yes other churches Pay those people)and for the building and such. It doesn't get sent to some far off place to build shoping malls. I'm sure some coruption happens in other churches too, but it gets caught eventually, because they have oversight.

I have a healthy disrespect and wariness to all organized religion.
