Neil LaBute, Richard Dutcher, now Dustin Lance Black. They seem to be piling up.

Interesting.

Can't wait to see "Under the Banner of Heaven"...

Aaron Eckhart, Amy Adams, and Will Swenson were all born Mormon, but their careers really took off when they disassociated themselves with the church. All of these performers are very well known outside of Utah.

Question: what active Mormon actors are there that are successful outside of the Mormon corridor?

For those that don't know them,

Aaron Eckhart played Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight.

Amy Adams has played a number of roles and has been nominated as one of the 100 most beautiful people in the world. She is best known for her performance in Enchanted as Giselle.

Will Swenson began his career in the Mormon film industry, but really took flight on Broadway where he gained a Tony in Hair and played the cross-dressing lead in the musical Priscilla.

Will was nominated for a Tony but did not win one.

And who can forget Jon Heder? I don't think he is officially out, but you have to wonder how the church reacted to his performance in Blades of Glory.

I wonder where Kirby Heyborne is out now. All I know is that BYU banned him from performing there because he appeared in a Miller lite commercial. Stupid Morg. And then they wonder why all their most talented people leave.

I LOVE Kirby Heybourne! I must admit I was shocked to see him in that Miller light commercial. Good for him!

LOL. IMDB says that her TBM Grandma actually called her Hollywood exec to protest after she participated in a sex scene in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Yeah, she's a favorite for a reason lol.

I didn't know that about her grandpa. I wonder what he'd say about the sex scenes that she did in Dollhouse if he thought the Buffy stuff was bad.

Some scenes are pretty intense, I was surprised Fox would even show something like that.

Aren't she and Ryan Seacrest a couple? I can't imagine them living some sort of TBM lifestyle.

There's a Canadian exmo who's quite famous in Canada... Gavin Crawford. Openly gay, funny and sweet.

An oldish interview with him here:

I read somewhere that he skipped it a lot, person said he had a "cubby" but she never saw him.

>>He was our school mascot in 99

Maybe that was in '98? I've read he graduated Tisch in 2002.

His little brother is currently on his mission in South Carolina.

Ryan Gosling was in my ward when he was in his late teens. I get the feeling he's not an active Mormon anymore either.

If wikipedia is to be trusted, she was raised a Reformed Jew by a mother who happened to have been Mormon. I don't think you can say someone has been a Mormon unless they have at least been baptized.

Chelsea Handler's sister is an active Mormon.

According to his bio on IMDB Matthew Modine was baptized a Mormon but only practiced during his very early years and he went to BYU.

He used to do the voice of Jebus at the Temple Square movie, the Imax one, I think. There was someone here on RfM who is related to him.

Mireille Enos from "The Killing" and the upcoming World War Z was LDS. She's married to Alan Ruck (a nevermo).
