Aaron Eckhart, Amy Adams, and Will Swenson were all born Mormon, but their careers really took off when they disassociated themselves with the church. All of these performers are very well known outside of Utah.
Question: what active Mormon actors are there that are successful outside of the Mormon corridor?
For those that don't know them,
Aaron Eckhart played Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight.
Amy Adams has played a number of roles and has been nominated as one of the 100 most beautiful people in the world. She is best known for her performance in Enchanted as Giselle.
Will Swenson began his career in the Mormon film industry, but really took flight on Broadway where he gained a Tony in Hair and played the cross-dressing lead in the musical Priscilla.

And who can forget Jon Heder? I don't think he is officially out, but you have to wonder how the church reacted to his performance in Blades of Glory.
I wonder where Kirby Heyborne is out now. All I know is that BYU banned him from performing there because he appeared in a Miller lite commercial. Stupid Morg. And then they wonder why all their most talented people leave.
I went to high school with matthew gubler, i had no idea he was a mo! Never once saw him at seminary, i know that much! He was our school mascot in 99, i believe it was.
If wikipedia is to be trusted, she was raised a Reformed Jew by a mother who happened to have been Mormon. I don't think you can say someone has been a Mormon unless they have at least been baptized.
