Jesus is watching you

Random mission flashback.

The day my brand new MP called me to extend DL calling.

I broke down in tears due to my perceived unworthiness.

He comforts me and tells me my sins are forgiven and then points to the stern picture of Jesus right behind him (the official, Spencer W. Kimball-approved one).

"The Savior is always there. He loves you and forgives you" ... or something like that.

Anyway, now I realize how manipulative it was for him to sit himself in front of this picture (it was a huge room).

Holy frickin' mind control, batman!

I NEVER felt entirely worthy as a Mormon.

I don't think you can if you a) really understand "the Gospel" and b) really look at yourself honestly.

"Holy frickin' mind control" is right ... or "mind rape" or "mind f***" ...

A picture is bad enough...

Imagine the biggest statue of Jesus in the world shading your yard. I'm glad I don't live in Poland near this one...

It's manipulate to use a picture of Jesus to manipulate you. I think a statue has the same effect. Ever present and in-your-face.

Maybe the pictures and statues are intended to be reminders or art with good intentions but the bigger mind control issue is always there IMO. Big Brother watches you (you sinner)...but he loves you!
