OK I'm out now. My DS (dear spouse) was told by the boss that another employee was basically out of line because of "lifestyle choices" aka being gay. What the boss doesn't realise is that DS is also gay. We have a legal Canadian marriage but are living in the US.

Needless to say, DS now has job insecurity. Advice?

You'll need to research the laws in your state. I'm sure you know about hrc.org. They keep up to date on what's happening legislatively in every state.

Meanwhile, do all you can to get ENDA passed.

What state do you live in?

I lost the best job I ever had when I left the Morg. My TBM boss didn't approve and shit canned me. I confronted him about it, and his response was "How about some severence pay?" I had him cold, and he knew it.

Nevertheless, it is the most humiliating and emotionally traumatic thing I've ever been through, leaving the Morg included. Be very very careful here is my advice. Good luck to you...I really feel for you both!

I'm guessing there's more to this - is there a good story in this, like how you filed with the EEOC on this?

Naw, I took the severence (it was a fair amount) and left.

You said you confronted him about this. I'm guessing there's a good story there then? Or it was just a case of . . . . . ?

I did confront him, but for me the trauma is still too near to share. Sorry.

Then I apologize. I didn't realize it'd be too traumatic.

The thing is, the company they both work for has a strong ant-discrimination policy. But it's no great shakes when the guy doing your performance review is a TBM with true blue gay hatred.
