I have read for years that the Italian and Jewish mobs that started Vegas, used mormons as frontmen in the casinos. Since gambling and prostitution go against the Word of Wisdom, were mormons able to rationalize that the gentiles were the ones being corrupted?

My neighbor was recently investigating the morg--he didn't join as he is better prepared theologically than the boys. He is from Nevada. Yesterday, he told me the morg owned brothels out there at one time.

...even though there were plenty of Mormons in LV in the early days, they really got a foothold when Howard Hughes started buying up casinos and hotels; competing with the mafia. Since both J.Edgar Hoover and Hughes were fascinated with the Mormon culture, hiring of LDS men was commonplace and actually surged during the 50's-60's. Howard's crew was managed by Frank Gay; Bob Gay's dad, who was Romney's Bain compadre. Frank had an LDS-only entourage which managed Howard on a day-to-day basis. A totally messed-up deal. See Mormon Will.

When I was at the Y, I hung out with sons of Hughes' Vegas top 'people'. Saw things and heard things that I probably should not have. There was a lot of cloak and dagger activity that was low key, but you could spot it if you were looking. Spooky, but entertaining, not to mention educational.

My Dad was hired and became part of the Vegas organization, in a lesser level of influence for a time, but there was a falling out of some kind that I could not sort out. His job in the organization put him in positions too see very private aspects of the major players lives. Not long after 'separating' from the organization, he passed away at 50 years old and was, up until then, in excellent health.

...another overlooked aspect of the Hughes/LDS influence had to do with Hughes tight relationship with the CIA and intelligence community. Many of the early telecommunications satellites which were in play during the 60's and 70's were developed by Hughes aerospace division. This gave him additional security safeguards which were provided by DISC (Defense Industrial Security Command). Hughes internal security measures were said to almost rival CIA. It was also suspected that due to the working relationship of Frank Gay and Robert Maheu (CIA/FBI), the Church could possibly have absorbed some comparable technologies; maybe some of the same security systems which Hughes had used.

"Hughes Space and Communications Company was formed as a subsidiary of Hughes Aircraft in 1961 following the merger of the company's Space and Communications Group and the Hughes Space Systems Division. This division built the world's first geosynchronous communications satellite, Syncom, in 1963 and followed it closely with the first geosynchronous weather satellite, ATS-1, in 1966. Later that year their Surveyor 1 made the first soft landing on the Moon as part of the lead-up to the moon landings in Project Apollo. Hughes also built Pioneer Venus in 1978, which performed the first extensive radar mapping of Venus, and the Galileo probe that flew to Jupiter in the 1990s. The company built nearly 40 percent of commercial satellites in service worldwide in 2000."

..I doubt I have any additional personal insight or information that could benefit you, in locating a person of interest. I just enjoy studying the many tentacles of the Hughes empire. There is an interesting (quirky) site for potential heirs thru DNA tests. You may find a name or person you recognize and could contact. Also, there was a poster here; BigBill, I think, awhile back who claimed to be Hughes' grandson. He might still post here under a different name. See links..........good luck!

During the Brigham Young era and for decades afterwards the Leaders in Utah leased the Brothels as Money Changers. In addition, along with the monetary justification for their actions "for the Lord", they "called" men to watch the prostitutes with the "Gentiles"! These perverted action is called "voyeurism" and it was justified to blackmail the "whoremongering" Gentiles.

This information is documented historically.

When the time came for statehood with the need for respectability, then the Mormon Mafia (sworn blood-oath Hit men known as "Danite Warriors") proceeded to obey their LDS Leaders ("liars and hypocrites, apostles, prophets and even Bishops and their Counselors" ~ D&C 64 ~ and funded Las Vegas to continue their perverted monetary pursuits through legalized prostitution.

See award-winning LDS historian, D. Michael Quinn "Origins of Power" and "The Great and Most Abominable: the Prophetic Cleansing of the Mormon Church in America, the Promised Land", etc.

In the 1970's I was witness to events that proved the connection between Provo, Vegas and certain unsavory 'businessmen'.

There were definite hard wired connections...

One of my Dad's buddies was one of Howard Hughes's henchmen. He liked hiring mormons. The story I was always told is that gambling money wasn't dirty money. There were some mormons of that generation who saw HH's career in Vegas as a marvelous work and a wonder
