Pertaining to the poster earlier today who asked for Bible verses to refute a Mormon on the topic of baptism for the dead, she wasn't preaching. She was asking for some feedback.
This poster seemed to possibly be a non-Mormon who had found RFM and needed some help.

That's how I read it... He wanted to prove a belief of his, to his mormon girlfriend, that baptism for the dead was not a Christian doctrine.

Naturally, as a laztheist, I was at first going to ignore the plea, but then I decided to try to do my part...

What KJV Bible verses refute baptism of the dead? I was taught that only you can accept Christ as your savior while you're still living. I was taught it is too late if you die before you've accepted Christ.

This commentary discusses how the Mormon view undermines the Christian view of the Gospel. I am just the messenger posting some ideas on the subject.

HA! I get to repeat my previous, erased, answer to you!!!

If you'll go to the Book of Roscoe 4:20, you'll find, "If ye die before ye wake in righteousness, there is no break to your fast, and death of heart and soul shall be thy reward."

Now, the crux of this matter lies in the ancient proto-Hebrew word ۏۏڴۺٻ♪ὤ, translated as 'wake' in this verse. Even cursory examination of ۏۏڴۺٻ♪ὤ shows the problem, which to this date has not been resolved, does it refer to something, or does it refer to something else? Careers have foundered on the incorrect choice.

Best of luck, Nik. We'll be here all week.

Your incisive and creative analysis of two proto-Semitic Abugida writing systems, and how one of these dominates in this word, is impressive:

I have never before seen this topic discussed, and I do now know more than I knew before I read this post.

I trust you made a spelling error: "now" should have been "not" for it to make your parting comment absolutely accurate.

No, not at all...because before I read your post, I did not know (nor, to my knowledge, had I ever before encountered) the English-language words: Abjad, Abugida, or logography...and I thought the word "lexicography" had to do with writing systems, rather than dictionaries...so the result of my reading your post was: I learned three new words, and I corrected my previous misconception about the meaning of the word "lexicography."

Thank you!
