Well, oh well...
It seems like Nelson is starting with an iron fist placing back dear Uchtdorf into the ranks of apostles. Since he was called, it got my attention how Dieter was called all the way to the first presidency from basically the bottom, as was was a new apostle. I think that Monson had a great friendship with Uchtdorf but now with Nelson he is just placing things back the way they were supposed to be, specially considering how Dieter has been more open to changes and specially considerate of the people wha are must hurt by church policies. Just my opinion. What's yours?

If this address is a preview of his tenure as president his focus will be on temple worship and keeping covenants.

No mention of BoM or Smith, and not testimony bearing about them. Very generic testimony.

I think they both know it's a sham but they're still good people. Oaks is a trained liar (lawyer - whatever) while Eyring would rather STFU.

Basically that being LGBT is a challenge as if it's some sort of disability.

I find Nelson's reply to the reporters question very shallow and simple.

Oaks has more depth to his answers, as does Erying

Very bad PR move -- not keeping Dieter in the 1st Presidency. They could have put Eyring back in the quorum due to health reasons, but no good explanation for Dieter, other than he was too liberal.

According to the annoucement this AM, they 1st presidency was set apart this past Sunday.

If they're trying to retain the younger crowd, I think they should have rigged up a fog machine and had them wear white. Maybe have a spotlight and a guy with a deep bass voice do the voice of God.

I always thought Uchtdorf was put in a more visible position for two reasons. One was to make the church look less Utah-ish, more international. The other was to get European members excited and forestall the church's disappearance there. But hollow gestures never really work, so Uchtdorf was returned to the bench.

Yup -- and Eyring was demoted, too, so a slam at both really.

Man they all look like goofuses when they try to put on a forced smile. They seem more natural when grimacing.

Pound the podium over and over declaring STRICT OBEDIENCE is how members show they love God, which we all know is code-talk for following without criticism the leaders of the Mormon Church.

Nelson will declare over and over that God's house is a house of order...and order means obedience....and praying, paying and obeying is THE duty of members who love the Lord, Aka, love and obey and show devotion and gratitude to those who speak for God.

Nelson will, behind closed doors, enlarge the scope and size of the gestapo arm of the Church, the purposely deceitfully named Strengthening the Members Committee. Those who are asking the wrong questions, those who dare to propose suggestions, will be ousted sooner rather than later.

And, anything else he damned well wants to do.

Well, he had better act quickly. He's 93, for gawd's sake.

The press conference and announcement are for PR reasons.
Therefore they do not stress things that show the differences
between Mormons and humans. They save those for when they are
among Mormons.

I was surprised to see Nelson put Uchtdorf back in the back seat of the mormon mobile. My first thought was maybe it was because Nelson realized that Dieter's video comparing his cell phone to JS's rock in the hat may not have been the best thing for their image, because to anyone with a lick of common sense, that comparison was ridiculous.

Did he take off his shoe and pound the lectern with it ?
