Amen, The article says Monson added "caring for the poor and needy" to the church's top priorities. Come on, Benjamin. He did no such thing. He told Mormons they need to care for the poor. So did some guy named Jesus. Monson said nice words. That's all he did.
Where is the new program that channels tithing funds to getting the homeless off the streets? Something about a 5 billion dollar mall having higher priority, IIRC.
This article just illustrates once again that religious leaders are given a blank check by the news media. No accountability whatsoever.
100% Tommy's biggest accomplishment? Cutting the ribbon on City Creek Center and shouting,
"Let's Go Shopping!"
just like Jesus would have done, right?
Meanwhile deny women equal rights and while we're at it, screw homosexuals equality. And since he lost that battle, he took it out on their kids, by refusing to bless the little gaybees.
I can't imagine any kind of a benevolent loving God endorsing anything Tommy Monson will be remembered for in 50 years.

I personally am delighted that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has chosen to continue to oppress women by denying them the priesthood. It's unfortunate that they changed their policy regarding blacks, but their new revelation of rejecting children and forcing them to denounce their parents' relationship is a worthy replacement.
Anything to speed up the demise of the cult. If it weren't for the sheep-like members handing over their money, the brethren would be leading an obscure back-woods sect which would be checked out regularly by the local police.
