Now let me get this straight ....

Elohim moved planet earth to its current location from someplace clear across the galaxy near Kolob ? He found a perfect place to put it in eliptical orbit around the sun and gave it a 24 hour spin and 23.5 degree axial tilt ? While in transit did the earth trespass through the realms of other gods who were busy creating worlds without number ?


Is this folklore or is it doctrine ?
Do I need to have the missionaries over to explain this to me ?

This was not official doctrine. It was popular in the 1970's.

The solar accretion model is that the sun gets its fuel, hydrogen, from space. Hydrogen atoms fuse together to form helium. This fusion generates energy. The hydrogen atoms come not only from Kolob, but from the light of Christ himself. This was something I remember reading from the book "Science and Mormonism". Solar accretion has been thoroughly debunked.

If you use the right lotion and wear a hat you'll avoid painful solar accretion....

I believe that stuff was pedaled by W. Cleon Skousen. He had a book called the First Thousand Years or the First Two Thousand Years and was trying to explain things like the sharp reduction in human life expectancy. I believe he also tried to explain the flood and the fact that death entered the world all as due to the relocation of earth.
