When a profit dies, the president of the Q12 assumes "command."
Nelson is president of the Q12.

He'll probably be officially named president/profit/no-see-um/unrevelator Sunday.

I am looking forward to all of the amazing revelations like how to cure cancer, HIV, and mental illness. Oh wait, those are trials of our faith so never mind. I guess the scientists will have to do it again.

When Nelson does takes the helm, isn't there still a couple of openings in the Q12? When are they going to choose Jon Huntsman Sr? According to this morning's Salt Lake Tribune, they were best friends...

He already has. According to the articles of incorporation, the second Monson died, the most senior Apostle becomes the Corporate Sole for the corporation of the FP. Its a done deal.

Yep. At the moment of death, title transfer so there is continuity and control. If they want a different president, they have to get the current one to sign off on it and make the changes to the corporation. There is no question of succession really. Unless they are willing to forgo all the property and assets.
