Our stats are reset on Sunday afternoons US Eastern Time. Since Sunday afternoon 545,723 reads of just this board have occurred ( less than 4 days). Your posts are being read by thousands. The majority 90%+ of people who read here are lurkers. The 545,723 does not include all the topics and stories on the site which brings is approximately 110,000 more reads. It is impossible to count individuals as the stats only include servers. Multiple people can access from the same servers or IP range such as 66.151 which is Earthlink which has thousands of hits.

So anyways, we are busy here. Please report issues and the admins and myself will do the best we can to handle the volume.

Is it because they are stopping to check if the board will be disrespectful?

I would love to recount all the creepy things I know about Monson or criticize all the empty, mindless remembrances I hear Mormons say about him.

But a guy died. I'm not going to write those things.

What can you say, really? He was a beautiful baby boy once. A kid growing up in early 20th century Utah. He came of age long before the wheels fell off Mormonism and he came to love the church.

Progress in the church happens the same as everywhere else, one funeral at a time.

The thing is, those things we see as degrading attributes and deed of Monson, he himself saw as his greatest attributes and accomplishments. He should be proud of the NYT article proclaiming his bigotry, misogyny and homophobia. Wouldn't he want to claim his deeds? God told him to do it!

When Monson died, I read it here and didn't find anything on the BBC or The Guardian.

Mormonism just no longer gets the media attention it got even as late as 2009. Imagine that.
