Progress slow but noticeable. A full week of electrical stimulation, isometrics and range of motion resulted in two days ago standing with support with a walker and today negotiating small steps with assistance!!! Twice this week she has been in a robotic walker- Star Wars like exoskeleton- that “walks” her slowly by her using hand driven mechanism. Legs feel “there” where three days ago they were just unresponsive. So continue the positive vibes, molecules and thoughts. She remains in Sheppard Spinal Center for the foreseeable future. Her two children with us....

I'm so glad she has you and family support for her children.

Was this paralysis an unexpected result from the surgery? I assume she had back pain that couldn't be resolved so she had surgery? I have a friend who is in a similar situation. Her foot keeps going numb.

The spinal column is so complicated. I'm confident with time she will recover. I'm sorry she has to deal with this.

Thanks for the update.

Odd paralysis after a lower spinal fusion week ofThanksgiving. MDs at Sheppard Spinal Center said they have never seen anything like it. Surgery st L4-5 and paralysis mapped out at T10 for those of you who know spinal anatomy......

What was the cause for losing the use of her legs ?
I'm apparently not understanding something.

Frankly unknown cause after spinal fusion. Speculation a” spinal stun” but by all admittedly unknown....

Great news. I'll send healing thoughts also that each coming day, she'll get better and better, until she wakes up one day and she's back to her former self. You're a great father and grandfather

This is fantastic news! This is my first stop after a few days of a hectic ordeal here. I am so thrilled to hear she is regaining use of her legs! This really made my day.

Since I don't pray anymore, the best I can do for you is generate positive energy your way! Take care of yourself and keep posting updates.

gatorman do you need help or assistance for yourself or your daughter's children, ie reliable transport housing etc. Do you think or feel that you have all your needs met or is this rehabilitation going to extend over a longer period of time than the family can afford. Do you need to set up a go fund me for meeting your family's needs?

Great thoughts but we are surprisingly stable in all those areas. Two grandchildren vomiting in unison tonight but other than that....daughter actually stood up with assistance this evening!!
