For those of you with an interest in history:
Today is the 100th anniversary of the Halifax explosion. On the morning of December 6, 1917, a French cargo ship carrying munitions collided with a Norwegian ship in Halifax Harbour. The ensuing explosion killed 2000 people and injured 9000 more. The downtown core of the city was almost completely obliterated. It was the largest man made explosion until the bombing of Hiroshima.
