If we are talking strictly tithing dollars, I would estimate something around $40k. If you included other related items...I'm sure I spent $10-20k at Deseret Book over the years. There were non-reimbursed costs for youth activities. I probably paid about a $1,000 or so towards my mission. My parents paid the rest. That would be another $10k or so.
There is no possible was to accurately price the two lost years of my mission. But this was, by far, the biggest loss of all.
It is also impossible to say how my marriage and family planning decision would have changed without Mormonism. But whatever it would have been, the costs would have been very real.
There are others here who I am sure have sunk far more into it than I have.
