It gets worse. Some nutcase Mormons are trying to re-write science.

"New evidence shows majority of craters on the moon are a result of underground steam explosions. Not impact from meteors."

Such a ridiculous, ignorant, teaching. Remember the drawings which accompanied this teaching? High black hats were one of the features, such as those worn in the USA's early pilgrims' days.

"Nearly all the great discoveries of men in the last half century have, in one way or another, either directly or indirectly, contributed to prove Joseph Smith to be a Prophet.
As far back as 1837, I know that he said the moon was inhabited by men and women the same as this earth, and that they lived to a greater age than we do - that they live generally to near the age of 1000 years.
He described the men as averaging near six feet in height, and dressing quite uniformly in something near the Quaker style."

I can laugh about that from 1892, but my God, these nutcases are trying to rewrite science in 2017.

To my mind, not too far removed from what the idiot seminary instructor was teaching in seminary about Kolob. I called him on it. Told him it was a lie and load of BS and walked out.

I agree, Kolob is nuts. These nutcases are trying to go beyond seminary or any LDS setting. They are trying to claim that their nonsense is real science.

LOL. Glad you showed up. Have you checked out the Universal Model website? I only found out about it a short time ago. Dr. Bickmore at BYU got blocked from their blog. This crank nonsense is nuts. I'm of the opinion that those producing it know it isn't real, its all a marketing scam to make money from the LDS members and anyone else who will buy it.

I did indeed.
What a pile of doo-doo.

I propose we give it a "temple new name:" Universal Nonsense. :)

Rodney Meldrum rides again... And those other two guys whose names escape me right now.

No less than Jeff Lindsey had a Mopologist on one of his columns defending the "Quakers on the Moon" yarn. That yayhoo claimed that the Apollo astronauts only explored a tiny fraction of the moon's surface, so we don't know for certain that JS was fabricating that stuff.

Lindsey has a PhD and should know better, honest.

I do recall as a youngster hearing old high priest guys testify that their patriarchal blessings promised that they would preach the gospel to people on the far side of the moon. I'm guessing those Quakers would be a hard sell.

My patriarchal blessing (1970) correctly predicted that I would someday explore the "Dark Side of the Moon."

The prophecy came true in 1973 when I purchased and played a copy of the album by Pink Floyd.

Now that's the gift of prophesy right there!

"only explored a tiny fraction of the moon's surface" ...

It's the "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" argument once again.

Song by Gil Scott Heron

Lyrics-

A rat done bit my sister Nell.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Her face and arms began to swell.
(and Whitey's on the moon)
I can't pay no doctor bill.
(but Whitey's on the moon)
Ten years from now I'll be payin' still.
(while Whitey's on the moon)
The man jus' upped my rent las' night.
('cause Whitey's on the moon)
No hot water, no toilets, no lights.
(but Whitey's on the moon)
I wonder why he's uppi' me?
('cause Whitey's on the moon?)
I was already payin' 'im fifty a week.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Taxes takin' my whole damn check,
Junkies makin' me a nervous wreck,
The price of food is goin' up,
An' as if all that shit wasn't enough
A rat done bit my sister Nell.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Her face an' arm began to swell.
(but Whitey's on the moon)
Was all that money I made las' year
(for Whitey on the moon?)
How come there ain't no money here?
(Hm! Whitey's on the moon)
Y'know I jus' 'bout had my fill
(of Whitey on the moon)
I think I'll sen' these doctor bills,
Airmail special
(to Whitey on the moon)

A nation mooned for sure.

So why is a dissenting little paperback on the Apollo hoax selling for close to fifty bucks?

The stuff in the book is plumb convincing as to why, if they could not make it... they had to fake it.

Look for the book on WWW and find...

Because idiots will pay that much for nonsense.
Which is exactly what it is.
