You don't have to tell them. Just the total if that's all you want to divulge.
Birth name, temple name, name changed for marriage(s), screen name here, nickname(s) and who knows what else?

Probably around 15 or so.

Too many to count.

Some of them were "me," others were names I ghosted under (either made-up names, or real people I was writing "as").

One through-the-court legal name change.

Yes, too many to count temple names, for sure. The name I got for ME first time thru, is not anywhere close to anything I want to be called for eternity. I hate the name. Once I was a Ruby. Don't remember any bible Ruby?

I still have my maiden name. Yahoo, here and google. Maybe 4 total.

Don't forget school nicknames. I had three. My mother used to call me "Goddamn Brat," which was lovely. I was called many variations of the word "skinny." I guess people didn't understand the damage of name-calling. My horrible ex-husband used to call me "Woman." As in "Woman, make my dinner."

How about:
Laurel
Bee Hive
Mia Maid
Gleaner
Daughter-in-Zion
Mother-in-Zion
Celestial Being
Priestess
Eternal Companion
Matron
Organist
Singing Mother
Primary Teacher
RS Counselor
Wife of an Inactive Elder
Divorcee
Single working mother
Inactive
Less-active
Offended
Having a faith-crisis
Questioner
Intellectual
Apostate

In Mormonism, names are labels. My TBM neighbor was made a temple President, and he and his wife were enjoying the prestige. "President Whatever." His wife was required to put in a lot of hours of temple work, too, and I asked her what her title was. She hesitated, and said, "Matron."

But I am VERY happy to have sorted out a nasty name problem this summer with the SS office. Took two days and a TON of paperwork only to find out {GASP} the IRS was WRONG in what they were telling me the problem was. Over 20 years and two states to fix it but getting that SS card with my real, correct, LEGAL name - priceless.

After having done three decades of hard time working for Social Security, I can't tell you how many messes like yours I had to sort out. And it isn't easy. Everything has to be documented to a gnat's eyelash.

Congrats to you!!

Birth name which was my maiden name, two nicknames family and close friends use, married name, and only three online names, one my name in Irish, the other Jersey Girl here, one more on another list, that's it. I also had a confirmation name that I rarely used, Teresa.

My dad's family name was changed when my Irish grandfather came here, but we have relatives here and in Ireland with the old name. My mother-in-law who was born in what is now Romania had a hard time with having had three first names and different ages when she applied for social security. This we were told was common.

I am a nevermo so never had a Temple name, luckily.

Counting my temple name,Elias, about 8. Although I do answer to Old Goat, Old Fool, and You Idiot, so I guess 11 is more accurate.

I was under cover for many years, and had a pseudonym. A pseudonym is not an alias, and only used normally to mask identity in official correspondence. Some ex-colleague here may know who I am by using it, and linking it to me is not allowed. So I gave just a hint in the screen name. I'm out of that business now.
