So I was at a family dinner and some of my mormon cousins heard me telling a "SLIGHTLY" sexual not even super funny joke I dont even remember what the joke was I just remember it wasnt that funny. and they all BURST out laughing like it was the funniest joke EVER I'm like REALLY I know a lot funnier of jokes I could tell! (Im actually surprised they didn't tell me off) lol I guess there just so used to watching only Pollyanna and Disney movies that even the mere word "sex" had them laughing like banshees! I noticed my few non mormon cousins didn't even laugh at all cause were all very used to dirty jokes LOL

Also I was on a twelve hour long car ride with my uber tbm brother and sis in law and I SWEAR the only music they played the whole time was church stuff imagine dragons and matchbox twenty and maybe a FEW other artists but not many. Nothing against the last two bands but to play them over and over and over and over and over again on a twelve hour car ride is a little much I mean they really need to branch out and find other artists and add a little variety to there ipods I mean I have a TON of different artists on my ipod id go nuts if I only had a few choices to listen to! Plus if it bugs them cant they just buy the clean version of the song? Do they really need to play the same songs over and over and over and over and over again? Gosh a little nuts!

Yes i did notice this in my second stint in the church. They are all like children when it comes to sex. In my head i am like you do realize sex is not supposed to be seen as evil and it is perfectly fine to want it and even DO it if you choose. Even i struggle with the repression to this day because i was seen as an evil dude that masterbaited to porn for so long when i was younger so i equated sex to being something that was bad and frowned upon early on.

Ugh I'm sorry you were seen as evil for something probably most men (and a lot of women as well) do. Ugh honestly Mormons like have some obsession with catching people watching porn and then spreading it around like wild fire. I have mormon relitives who I swear try and catch people watching porn so they can have something to gossip about. Ive heard SO many names of people who have been caught watching porn I would always hear "oh ma gosh! So and so got caught watchin porn!" My mom was especially bad that was like all she would talk about alot of times one time she saw one of our neighbor boys dissapear behind this shed close to our house and she was like "oh my gosh!" I wonder if hes lookkng at PORN!

Im like women ask yourself this...what is more perverted looking at porn? Or pondering on if the neighbor boy is possibly looking at porn behind a shed? And why on earth would he be looking at porn behind a shed out in the open in broad daylight when be could do that in the privacy of his own bedroom? Just doesn't make too much sense to me. I mean I guess its possible but he PROBABLY isn't!

And This one guy I knew told me that this girl he knew from somewhere I cant remember where it wasn't his girlfriend or anything they might have been coworkers or something found porn on his phone and started chewing him out in front of everyone and was like "OH MH GOSH THIS IS SOOOOO BAD" this will lead you down a terrible road! And he was way embarrassed. Its like good greif! I would have said to her "cause YA Joseph Smith would NEVER look at porn would he now?!

And ya I never got the whole keep your thoughts clean thing its like the church leaders expect kids to be totally a sexual until there wedding night and then (trumpet please) DA DA DA DA!!!!! Its now time to become a freakin sex demon bayba! ;) yaaaaa.....the human body doesn't even work like that sorry folks! I always thought I was a pervert because I was always taught in young women's that girls don't want sex! Girls don't like sex! But then id look at the boys and be like uuuuummmm yaaaaa......of COURSE they don't! (Ya right) lol

Ooooooh yea its time to start the sex haha after 25 years of nothing. I still remember getting caught with porn from my dad and he scolded me so bad and then later in life he admitted to having a 13 year addiction behind everyone's back, my sister even caught him in the act. What a f#cking hypocrite i thought.

Oh my gosh he should have just left you alone! that is SUPER hypocritical of him! But its not too surprising though I know ALOT of hypocritical Mormons who are like that they get mad at you for things then you find out there doing the exact same thing! I know this mormon boy who got mad at my friend for talking about sex then I find out he was having an affair with a married lady wow cause that's SO much better than just talking about sex let me tell ya!... good greif.

And I actually remember at a lot of our family home evenings the topic would turn to "oh guess who's been viewing porn now?!" I'm like really people? Good greif...

And oh awesome Badass! I'm glad you got your eye surgery! I know a few people who got that surgery and it took them a little while to recover but after they loved it and it helped them a lot. And don't worry I swear I wont tell Boner! Lol and I can write ya some longer paragraphs now! ;) LOL

My eyesight is so horrible right now it is redicules, have to close one eye to see the keyboard. The doc said it is normal though at this stage, i had to get a taxi to get to the doc appt. haha. That taxi driver was a talker holy hell she wanted to know everything about the surgery. I thought the surgery was going to be more minor than this like lasik or something. Hopefully i am not blind for too long. But my eyes were killing me and my glasses sucked so i had to do something i felt.

I will say she talks like my sister who is kind of like me. Its better then talking to bullies and dirtbags thats for sure that are too cowardly in the real. She actually talks like somewhat of a real person and not an intellectual robot that just spews facts over and over. Ok we get it you think you are smarter then everyone else even though you never spent a day in the mormon church.

Some Mormons are not content to live their standards, but to proclaim *how* they live their standards. They are in a competition to demonstrate they are more devoted than another person.

OTOH...

IF 'being repressed' saves a few from diseases & unwanted pregnancies...

that is a redeeming aspect, IMHO.

Being a nudist highlights that we are plainly an Over-sexualized society; I've seen nude boy/girl groups of children, teenagers & adults at nudist parks without any sexual overtones.

For 'the purist' me, that's the optimal situation.

I love that mormon knee-jerk reaction. Anyone who has sex out of wedlock = STDs and unwanted pregnancy.

I hurt myself rolling my eyes that hard.

You know... just. Nevermind. You can lead a horse to water, but some brainwashing will never be undone.

And just because someone doesn't wanna wait till marriage doesn't mean they will automatically go out and sleep with a million different people. They might but not nessasarily. They may just have a couple or even just one partner they just don't wait till marriage. And also sometimes married people DO sneakily go out and sleep with a million different people I know of COUNTLESS "goody goody gumdrop mormony mormon" or at least those that I THOUGHT were oh so holy folks who have cheated on there spouse thanks to all the gossip in my ward lol so married people aren't always so innocent either haha

Very obsessed like scary obsessed, i got a weirdo to call me the other day and it was definitely him. Nobody else is obsessed besides him so it was an easy call to make. But i don't think its a guy twice my age like i assumed which surprised me.

I am always amazed at the black and white thinking that permeates Mormonism carries over into exMormonism.

The all or nothing, black and white thinking. Etc.

I got out of Mormonism because I could see the grey and didn't think in "black and white" (i.e. splitting as it is known in psychology), terms

Thank goodness I see grey. Really. I am grateful.

This reminds me of one of the most popular sayings around my house growing up: "It's only gray if it's got some black in it."

Sex is supposed to be a natural part of life and not an obsession. So to me a guy that watches porn has as much a problem as those who consider sex a sin. It has been proven that porn does cause relationship problems and the objectification of women and girls. So if you think being responsible and not objectifying people as your sexual servant is repressed then I guess I am repressed. I do not like dirty jokes and I really wonder why people consider it normal to watch others have sex. As a woman dirty jokes make me uncomfortable in public as all I want to do is have a normal conversation. My husband and I in private crack all sorts of jokes including sexual ones but I have found that men think you are up for it if you laugh at a dirty joke. They somehow think you are open to that kind of behavior. The culture is too obsessed with all things sexual and the men that stare at women with the porn eyes.

"The porn eyes" LOL sorry that just sounded funny LOL and ya I realize not everyone loves dirty jokes and I "usually" don't tell them out in public for that very reason mostly just with my friends and some family. I like dirty jokes and I know alot of girls who do. But thats ok you dont have to like them to each there own. Ok ill try not to laugh at them when a man tells them but it might be hard cause you gotta admit some dirty jokes are quite hilarious! And even when there not now that I will be thinking "don't laugh don't laugh" I will probably laugh anyways cause I don't have the best self control sometimes lol.

(sorry) I think 'dirty jokes' appeal to a similar instinct or brain chemistry as watching porn.

again 'sorry' if that's the ole LDS Black/White thinking.

I remember one LDS camp named ironically firm as the mountains. I’m sure this story has been told before of one young man’s road to hell. I started as watching an adult movie which disturbed him so much he through up. Well that one adult movie led him down the path to murder. He supposedly would tell this story from a jail cell as a cautionary tale.

I don’t buy it....

Plus according to SWK masturbation can turn you gay. What straight man has ever had thought that way?

" It has been proven that porn does cause relationship problems and the objectification of women and girls."

I am fascinated by such statements.

First, just about anything can cause relationship problems. My wife watches about 6 hours of TV a day, but that is not considered obscene.

Most divorces are initiated by women, and the leading factor in divorce is money issues. Yet there doesn't seem to be public shaming over such things. Perhaps guys should make their wives hide flyers and advertisements under their mattress when they lust after that new couch or whatever.

Then the objectification thing. Men are told to not objectify women for their bodies, but then women seem to objectify themselves. Why spend so much time putting on makeup? Seems they want people to objectify them.

You could say that men are being objectified when used to fix something or whatever. My brother is in the sewer business and has had human feces explode in his face. Did he complain about being objectified? No, because he was being paid.

Women in porn get paid too.

My son called from Afghanistan during his third deployment, which were becoming increasingly dangerous. He said he wanted to leave the military when he got back, but his wife wanted him to stay in. I asked if she realized he could be killed. He said, yes, but she said he made good money on his deployments. My sister was listening and said that is understandable because women need to have financial security.

I asked what about my boy's security?

Doesn't matter. After all that, for some reason, my boy didn't feel objectified. We send them over to get legs blown off - no problem, but if they were to stare at a pretty girl - they are treating them like a hunk of meat!

Strange world we live in.

Indeed very strange world. Interesting perspective of objectifying everything, even lusting after furniture in magazines haha. Could you imagine someone trying to hide a furniture addiction under their bed like it was porn and then getting caught haha now that's funny.

Six hours of TV a day?. I consider that obscene.

My grandma used to wazch 9 hours a day it was nuts. Quilting in the morning and then 9 hours straight of television. She cut me down about things like everybody else did and then i cut her down with her television addiction, whats fair is fair i thought not going to let family cut me down without a backlash any more.

My first husband (the abuser) used to rent porn movies and/or go to 'stag parties" where a bunch of guys (and sometimes their wives/girlfriends, too) would watch porn movies. Personally, I never thought they were fun to watch or interesting or anything I wanted to see. I personally don't find watching other people having sex to be arousing--actually, pretty much the opposite. But to READ "pornography" is something else entirely. :) I've heard other places and from other people the same thing--men like to watch it, women like to do it or read about it. (I don't consider masturbation to be "porn" but I do it fairly frequently, and also did it when I was married. I think most people do.) So....? Of course, I'm nevermo, so that probably factors into it somewhat--but not totally! But I think porn is like all other stories---the book is always better than the movie! LOL!!
