His step-mother, Shirley Jones, once commencement that of all the sons of Jack Cassidy, David was the most like his father in temperament.

Jack Cassidy was a severe alcoholic who died in a fire, and it's highly suspected of his being bi-polar as well. David even agreed to this description of his father.

Hope David had at least some peace in his life.

That's sad news.

I liked his father's acting too. Their personalities were larger than life. He did die in a house fire after he set fire to the couch he fell asleep on with a smoldering cigarette.

David tried to escape his father's addictions, but struggled with his own.

It seems too young still. 67 isn't very old by today's standards.

He's too young to go (67, I think,) but he's lived a full life. I know that he's battled dementia, and now his liver and kidneys are shutting down.

That is so horribly sad. :(

I loved that show as a child. Still love the music. I hold hope that he recovers.

Why are so many people getting dementia at an earlier age, or is it because we have social media now, so it's harder to hide? The AC/DC guy, David, all these former sports stars, etc

I don't know. I think in part it's a matter of awareness. I know that teachers and people in general are getting better at recognizing things like autism (ASD) and anxiety. Perhaps it's the same with dementia.

We are all dying, some just faster than others.

My wife and I saw him in concert only a handful of years ago in Dallas, TX. Davy Jones and he were double heading.

We had front row, stage left. David Cassidy had roved to our side and, shading his eyes a bit, looked at my wife and I sitting close, holding hands, with stupid blissful looks on our faces (I imagine!), and he smilingly mouthed the words, "Very cool!"

Helped make our evening.

Sorry to learn of his situation but am not surprised.
