I found a article of lies that said what new converts need. 1 a friend in the church, 2 a assisment and 3 friendship, is that all lies? Or don't be scared to talk to missionaries " yeah except they lie to you and are used salesmen selling a bad product

IMO, Gordon Hinkley was smooth-talking, dodging, weaving lying cover-upper. (hey:that word's almost as good as "ponderize"!) He was on national tv and was asked questions such as Are you a prophet? " I'm sustained as such", rather than " yes, I am. He was asked about doctrine that says that lds members can become gods in the next life, and that god was once a mortal man. The Hinkster (as he is sometimes referred to here), replied: "I don't know that we teach that", and "that is a little couplet". I watched that interview and I couldn't believe it! Then there was the Hoffman forgeries and the lies and cover-ups with those. When he said new converts "need" those three things, what he is really saying is "don't lose potential income; keep em' in at all costs."

the idea that Gordon BS Hinckley was a smooth talker is just Gordon BS Hinckley propaganda.

If I remember correctly, it was an interview in Germany where he stated the financial records of the church are completely open, but only to the members, not the general public.
