It appears that Roy Moore wants it both ways.

He wants to have one foot in the evangelical world, where older men can court and marry teenage girls.

He also wants to have a foot in the unbelieving world, where premarital sex is OK.

Apparently, he's a hypocrite who doesn't believe in the religious stuff but uses it to gain political traction in a heavily evangelical state.

Shame on you, Roy.

The last woman coming forward was sad/poignant, but had its funny moments.

She says what he did.
He denies ever knowing her.
She pulls out her high school yearbook, and shows where he signed it with a personal (and flattering) note, including "DA" at the end of it.

That's called getting caught lying :)

Just need someone who worked at the Old Hickory House restaurant at the time who can corroborate he went in there--apparently he frequented the place as he began grabbing the 16 year old's hair when she was 15.

Moore was NOT yet a D.A. at that time......and age of consent was 14 until about 2004.

In 1979 Roy Moore was a Deputy District Attorney. Deputy DAs are often called DAs in court and in public. If a deputy wanted to impress people, he could describe himself in those terms without raising many eyebrows--especially among little girls who didn't know any better.

Meanwhile the legal age of consent in Alabama in 1979 was, as it is now, 16. Sexual contact with a child from 12 to 16 years of age was a second-degree felony. Leigh Corfman was the most obvious of these, assuming her claim (backed up by multiple sources) is correct. But there were other girls who were 16 and hence also represent felonies.

This joker Roy Moore was never even close to meeting the ethical and legal standards of his time.

And that would be an EXTREMELY tiny subset. I have never met an
Evangelical that condones what this is suggesting.

And the OP has titled their post using the word "many".

It would seem there are "many" liberal Democrats who practice such unseemly behaviour as well. In fact, is it true that while "everyone knew" what Moore was doing..he was a Democrat and no one said anything?

This is correct. Moore never won any elections as a democrat, but he did run as one in his loser, jail-bait-chasing days.

I find it amusing (and pretty sad), though, that Limbaugh (and apparently, you) seem to think that if he was a Democrat when he molested teen girls, that's somehow the fault of the Democrats. He's slime. He was slime if he was a Democrat, he's slime now as a Republican. It's not the fault of the party he belongs to, it's *his* fault.

In a patriarchal system, females exist for the pleasure of men.

I too feel that the subject line is a misrepresentation. I believe that the vast majority of the people in this world are good people who are trying hard. Even the evangelicals.

Would you prefer "tribal, racist white Christian identity conservative religious people who are obsessed with conspiracy theories, biblical literalism, prophesy, creationism, eschatology and dominionism and live within a closed theological, ideological and cultural mindset"....
