Read Mormon 9, where he writes a letter to the leader of the Lamanites and asks permission to go to Cumorah with ALL his people, and after a long time, a veeeeerrrrry long time, the Nephites get the shit totally kicked out of them....

......because they TOLD their enemy what they were going to do!!

And what does Mormon do? Apparently he BLAMES HIS OWN PEOPLE FOR GETTING SLAUGHTERED BECAUSE THEY HAD TOO LITTLE FAITH! He though he would kick Lamanite ass, but noooooo, his troops weren't Jesus-y enough.

Am I reading this wrong? How could anyone believe such tripe, unless it was written as a Hollywood fantasy for 15 year-old boys.

Oh yeah, the analogy I was going to make: The USA tells Japan "Hey, we're putting all our battleships and every single one of our shiny new airplanes in Pearl Harbor and we're gonna wait there to kick your ass when you show up for the big battle."

The Japanese would be like: "Well, alrighty then..."

The Nephites weren't idiots -- they were imaginary :)

The guy who *wrote* the Nephite stories, on the other hand...he was an idiot.
