It was common every "big" election year I'd have to fill out a provisional ballott that I assume was tossed away.
One presidential year was the last straw.
I had voted in june on some school board bond with no problem. Later in october I received a call from the polling station. They were three people short of a 100% vote on another city issue and asked me to come down to vote. So I did.
Two weeks later I went in to vote for president. The same gal, who I grew up with and knew for over 30 years, who had called me two weeks earlier to vote in a city issue, said I was being challenged as not eligible to vote and had to do the provisional ballot.
I told her no. She knew me. She lived 7 doors down the street from me. She called me to vote two werks prior.
I walked out. Two months later when I renewed my driving licence I had the opportunity to register to vote. So I reregistered to independent. Never had trouble since.
