or is it left to their discretion? If not, do they do so on their own initiative?

I don't just mean the general catch all "have you done anything that you think is bad" question. I'm specifically asking about autosexual behaviour and if so the directive compelling them to ask.

The standard question was "Do you abide by the Law of Chastity?" Since I never considered M to be a "chastity violation" (even though I knew the church felt otherwise) I always answered "Yes," and never gave it a second thought.

Me neither, as I was baptized when I was 21, I already knew M was a natural thing.

from age 12 to age 17. Then we got a new bishop. He didn't ask.

I'm including dance card interviews every 3 months, every bishopric interview by the bishop, not by the counselors. If we went to the temple for baptisms, yep, got asked. If seemed anytime he could ask,he would. He asked all the girls. My sister wasn't afraid to ask other girls in her class. I was. So she learned a lot about things he would ask.

The more I learn about Mormonism, the weirder it gets.

I went to those dances and dance cards were not required. This is yet more draconian bullshit.

If I had a daughter and this happened even once I would be on the phone with the authorities ASAP! This is NOT NORMAL.

I never indulged in autosexual behavior. I'm old-school, we had to learn how to use a clutch.

You learned how to drive a stick-shift, eh?

I got asked in every single interview I ever had, from pre-deacon until I left the cult at 21.

One of my especially-enthusiastic bishops would go into great detail asking about "sexual" behavior:

"When was the last time you french-kissed a girl? That's the start of the pathway to illicit fornication, you know...?"

"Have you ever touched a girl's breast, intentionally or accidentally? Did you get aroused when you did? Which girl was it?"

One of my smart-ass (meaning outstanding) friends, when asked the last time he had french-kissed a girl by this bishop, replied:
"What time is it?"

The bishop wasn't amused. He was forbidden from blessing the sacrament (we were priests at the time) for two weeks.

That guy was a real piece of work. We all figured he was so horny (his wife was rather shrill, and none of us could imagine the two of them ever being "together") that he had to get his jollies vicariously through the ward teenagers...

Seems like the right moment to (again!) share this joke with the board:

Mission Prez: Elder, do you have a problem with masturbation?
Elder: No, Prez; it works every time!

It's criminal. If not, the law is wrong.

Maybe the names of Bishops who ask minors personal questions should be published and with the types of questions they ask. That would put a stop to it.

I think the two who did it with me are long dead (I know one is), but I'll post 'em anyway:

Bishop Robert Lemmon
Bishop Z. Reed Millar

Poway 2nd ward

I'm all for transparency :)

Did you happen to know of a Henderson (Hendersen?) family in Poway? The father was a successful lawyer in that area and my understanding is that he was also Stake President, maybe in the early nineties. I know you were exmo well before that but I thought I'd ask, just out of curiosity.

I'm 52 this month and I don't remember ever being asked a question specifically about masturbation. We did have a YM president who seemed quite obsessed with talking about it - and three of the YM were his step-sons.

My mother-in-law, who is now deceased, would start to giggle when she became embarrassed. When she was about 70 the stupid bishop asked her if she masturbated. She was so embarrassed she started to giggle and could not stop. The bishop then became embarrassed and ended the interviewed and quickly gave her a temple recommend. My mother-in-law, who was very prim and proper, makes it even more funny. I still laugh when I think about it.

I was asked constantly from 12 on up to my mid 20's. BYU bishops seemed to be really interested in this topic.

died in June. I'm sure he has gone on to his just rewards. ha ha ha ha It has to be mind blowing for these assholes to die and find out they were just a bunch of perverts or nothing at all, and not called of God.

To elaborate.... I would just issue the cards...

After all, it can use more help from card-worthy tithepayers, given that its membership rolls aren't doing all that well these days.

I was a bishop and never ever did dance card interviews. The purpose as I saw it was to show their commitment to keeping church standards at the dance. Why would I stop any young person from attending a dance where they could develop relationships with members and hopefully have a positive experience...

. . . to substantively call to task the racist, Mormon-rooted and -rotted sculptor of Mt. Rushmore?

You need to start thinking about Mormonism's autobigoted behavior. Keep working on that personal remake of yours.
