Because we're basically monkeys who learned how to talk and perceive. We figured out how the sun shines, but why would we know more about the eternities than a house cat or a house plant? There's really no reason.

Creation is a semantic game. We know nature "created" us. Some stoned guy talking to a bush in the desert extrapolated a bit, which was good for a while. Until we figured out genetics enough.

Religion isn't the foundation of culture. It's an artifact of culture. You can wear it like a hat, or not. To me, it's like Ren's "happy helmet" so I think not.

The reason we talk about "creation" and "true churches" is because we have a brain that allows us to.

Hell, maybe dolphins do, too, but they don't come knocking on my door asking if I'd like to hear a message about Jesus Christ.

Sooo, you make an absolute truth claim based upon admitted incomplete knowledge claiming there can be no absolute truth claims due to incomplete knowledge?

I know this 'ice cream' is TRUE! Beyond a shadow of a doubt and with all of the fiber of my being!

Actually I think it would be easier to prove an ice cream is true over a religion. At least we can be 100 percent sure of the 'creator' or rather 'creators' (The cow and the people who turned it to iced cream).. And we can trace the origins (Cow, people, machinery, etc).

You're right. This line of thinking helped me accept my true beliefs, when I thought about all that humans have been wrong about, they were surely wrong about the eternities.

In our silly little human heads, we are insecure beings. We NEED a big daddy in the sky to help us in our time of need. Most all religions have a central being- gawd, that we try and appease for blessings.
Does it make us weak minded to believe in a gawd? Or, to need a gawd in our life for spiritual fulfillment?
There is no proof.
All I KNOW now is: I am alone in this world, no friends anymore, and I have been cut off (self-inflicted) from the life I was living for 4 decades! It is a gut wrenching feeling to be so wrong, for so long, believing in a 'true church'.

When I think about all the things we are RIGHT about, my brain is full beyond capacity. Sorry--no room for mumbo-jumbo.

It's semantics. There are many "true" churches. They follow all the requirements that constitute the definition of a church.

Truth is undefinable in natural human language. Google Tarski, truth undefinability.

Anyone peddling language based truth such as religion has failed.
