Earlier this week a Chinese fortune cookie told me that an old love will come back to me.

I laughed at the thought.

Lo and behold, this evening out of the blue I get an e-mail from an old boyfriend who I dated back in high school wondering how I've been.

I hadn't even thought about him in like years.

Maybe there's something to Chinese fortune cookies after all.

Talk about serendipity. :)

If the fortune cookie is dipped in dark chocolate, it's true; will if undipped, it's a counterfeit fortune. The Fortunate Boner.

Nice to hear from old friends, isn't it?

I had one get in touch this past week, too.
I didn't have a fortune cookie telling me it would happen, though.
I had another one get in touch a few months ago.
Again, no cookie.

Perhaps it's fairly common among humans in the social-media age to have old friends get back in touch. So much so that the occurrence makes for a good fortune-cookie "fortune..." :)

I hope you two old friends enjoyed your conversation.

I have one taped to my computer screen: "Do not seek to find the answer so much as to understand the question better."

I make it a point to NEVER read the "fortune" in the cookie.

I got one that said, "Do onto others as you would have others do onto you."

That change from unto to onto had me thinking of all kinds of possibilities...

That one reminds me of a game show contestant who once quipped he "did unto others and then split like a banana peel."

Reminds me of a show, I think on Nickelodeon, I was watching with my kids years ago called Rocko's Modern Life. One of the characters opened their cookie and received a very mean fortune. Everyone decided to find the person that wrote it and they went to China. They found the company and went to the fortune cookie dept. There were alot of people at typewriters wearing the same thing-white shirt and tie. Way in the back was this overweight middle aged man. They approached him and he was the one writing the mean fortunes. He was going through a divorce and wife was getting everything and he was going through a mid-life crisis. Very funny episode.

The worst fortune I have ever read after a meal was, "That wasn't chicken".
