The term "oxymormon" may be new to this site, but it's been around for awhile. My niece's cousin used the alias "Olive Oxymormon" in 2007. Author Sarah Hepola either mis-transcribed or intentionally changed the moniker to "Olive Oxymoron" to make it a bit more Mormon-friendly when she posted interviews with southern Idaho teens Olive Oxymormon and her friend Lucy Latter-Day Sinner. Lucy's handle for the published interviews was changed to "Lucy Latter-Day Saint."

I believe the term had been used elsewhere on the Internet before my niece's cousin used it. I may have read it at the Salamander Society site, though I'm not certain. I don't think anyone necessarily copied anyone else. It was a term that was begging to be coined, and it emerged spontaneously in more than one place.

Yep, reformed Mormonism=oxymoron

All they have left is oxymormonic truth now that the truth has set many people free.

I think most TBMs would be happier if they could jettison those who don't meet their standards of righteousness and shrink The Church® down to an exclusive club of people identical to themselves.

I think for many you are right but there are TBMs for whom lording their further light and knowledge over others is a God-given pleasure.

But they'd be able to brag even more that they're part of the small, exclusive, minority of those who are righteous enough, valiant enough, yadda yadda yadda. That's what the celestial kingdom is all about anyway.

True. There might be TBMs actually happy at the exodus.

The use of the word "packering" in this thread is most fitting, but I would have suspected the new word to be used in close proximity to the mention of "little factories." For what it's worth...

The new deacons brought their "little factories" to priesthood meeting where they received "packereing" for how to operate them.

That sentence sounds nastier than a bit of homemade marshmallow chocolate packered into a testimony to make its spirit sweeter.
