Ran across this article from a California paper about how conservative communities, and the politicians who represent them, are resisting state-mandated comprehensive sex education.

http://www.fresnobee.com/news/special-reports/too-young/article165478887.html

Here are some quotes from Brooke Ashjian, president of the Fresno Unified School District who, according to the article, is "a Mormon and a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump."

“My biggest fear in teaching this [comprehensive sex eduction] – which we’re going to do it because it’s the law – but you have kids who are extremely moldable at this stage, and if you start telling them that LGBT is OK and that it’s a way of life, well maybe you just swayed the kid to go that way,” Ashjian said. “It’s so important for parents to teach these Judeo-Christian philosophies.”

“There’s certainly a lot of psychological effects that come from abortion that people need to be aware of,” Ashjian said. “Your life is a lot easier by not doing it. Look at these poor girls who get raped and have to have an abortion. If that’s the way they’ve got to go, God bless them. But think of all the repercussions that come later in life, mental and psychological.”

Wow. Wonder how he would like it if someone said:

“My biggest fear in teaching this...if you start telling them that being Mormon is OK and that it’s a way of life, well maybe you just swayed the kid to go that way,” ... “It’s so important for parents to teach all philosophies.”

Teaching kids to hate gay people or deny who they are is your church policy. Keep it out of schools.

People like Ashjian are rather insistent about keeping those teen pregnancy and STI rates up along with inane birth control methods spreading around schools. Keeping people ignorant about their bodies is abusive IMNSHO and educating young people about the reality of sexuality and how to be safe and smart are a GOOD thing for society.

That kind of shit will get him a standing ovation and "extra blessings" in Utah. In California, that may just get him sued and bounced off the school system.Let's hope so.

I'm trying to figure out how getting raped has something to do with understanding the reproductive system. Did I sleep through that part?

Sure, because teaching kids, "If you're going to have sex, don't be stupid -- use a condom and/or other birth control" is the slippery slope to homosexuality, rape, and abortion.

Oh, wait, no they're not. As facts clearly show, since areas that teach "comprehensive" sex ed have far lower rates of teen pregnancies, abortions, and STDs compared to areas that don't teach "comprehensive," or just teach "abstinence," or don't teach it at all.

So screw her. With a condom, of course.

Huh? So he's saying that the only reason he's hetero (or pretending to be) is because he wasn't told it's ok to be otherwise when he was a kid? Makes ya wonder what would cause him to think that way.

And trust me, there are psychological effects from having kids. In fact, they just might be a slight bit worse than from having an abortion. Especially having kids at a young age, when you're not prepared or when you do not have the means to support them.

And the sad part is that THESE are the people who over breed.
