Missionaries in Bom Musical: "RULE 72!"

(To Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer et al.: "you think you're bad, I broke rule 72! I left my companion, I'm way worse than you!")

Hillarious.

I can't get the "Spooky Mormon Hell Dream" song from the new musical out of my head. It seems to me this is one of the best insights into missionary life ever pointed out.

As a missionary, they worked hard to create an absolute panic over "Rule" breaking. We actually had to read the "white bible" every morning in the San Diego mission.

The funniest commandment? Missionaries should not sleep in the same bed.

I also thought it was idiotic that we were prohibited from holding children. This was the one rule I always broke. Having been an older sibling of 3 and a summer camp counselor for elementary-aged kids, I was very good at distracting the kids while my companion did the monotonous "discussions" with a single mom.

I thought the rule of 72 was how much time/percentage you needed to double the value of an investment.

Hey, when were you in the San Diego Mission? I was there in the mid-80's under Rosenberg.
