My elderly Father is in ICU right now with a wbole littany of age related health issues. The Chaplain mentioned my Dad was listed as Mormon and asked if he wanted to list a religion and he said, "No Religion" clear as a bell. The chaplain mentioned he was Buddhist. I told him I was closest to a Zen Dudeizt and he laughed.
I said, "Hey, the Buddhists were rught all along a out the "God PRticle"
He said, "Yeah, bur we wouldnt have called it that."
I asked what he would call it and he said, "Tao. Not a particle."

Good for your dad!
And good thing the chaplain wasn't mormon -- he never would have taken "no" for an answer...

Hmm, I've read hundreds of Buddhist texts, and can't recall a single one of them ever postulating a sub-atomic boson whose field is what imparts mass to objects.
Where did they mention that?

The authors of the eponymous book really wanted to call it the "goddamn particle", but the publisher would have balked.

Maybe Buddhists secretly like to swear.

The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend a personal God and avoid dogmas and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description.

I am listed as having "no religious affiliation" on my health records. So no annoying visits in the hospital by clergy.

Same here Lethbridge and the religious people still come to see me when in hospital. They don't seem to understand I have no interest in their religious speel
