"..to usher in the Seventh Age of Blood Atonement."

So are there other cults out there that have blood atonement doctrine or do you think the author was taking a jab at Mormonism with that remark?

From the section on cult leaders-

"Narcissistic personality—Dangerous cult leaders usually hold grandiose notions of their place in the world.

Claims of special powers: If a leader claims he’s smarter, holier, and more pure than everyone else, think twice about signing up.

Charisma meets anger: Dangerous cult leaders can be extremely loving, charming and affectionate, but often turn angry and abusive with no warning. This mercurial presentation keeps members off balance."

All of the above seem to apply to the LDS leader(s).. being called a 'prophet' for example is certainly grandiose and better than everyone else.

Also the 'special powers' apply. Since he (the prophet) can see god and he alone can talk to him face to face.

AND most importantly I think, the prophets all seem to be very kind, caring, benevolent types. And then you sometimes hear of scandals with them not behaving this way or the things they actually say are hateful but they say it so gently and kindly that it's hard to notice!

And then ALL of the 'Signs of Brainwashing' also seem to apply! (check out the link!)

Thanks for sharing this.. just more confirmation that Mormonism is definitely a cult group. And a dangerous one at that.

The difference between a cult and a religion:
in a cult there is a person at the top who knows it’s a scam,
and in a religion that person is dead.

IMO, cults (religious or not) are based on fear. I can't remember the GA's name at the moment, but during GC, whenever he is speaking, he has the most sad, sincere face I've ever seen. One time he was speaking to those of us who decided to jump the Titanic, and asked: "Where will you go? What will you do?" Work places could be considered to be cults because if you don't tow the line, dress how you're told, and follow without question your fearless leader, then your job is in jeopardy.

Is it a dangerous cult or an MLM? An MLM is smart enough to not kill its host.

Interesting how it started as a cult and Brigham parlayed it into an MLM. Good ole Brigham. The Timpanogos people were the lucky ones.
