Man, I was hoping he'd come back and give his impressions. Sadly, I've never been beyond the airport in SLC, but I've been there many times. Always resisted the generous offers of tours of temple square. One funny thing I noticed at the airport was that many of the girls wore black pants that were like "skorts" but with long legs. Big, baggy pant legs, that if you didn't really look closely could have passed for an ankle-length skirt. Is that normal attire in SLC?
I didn't notice people dressed like that at the Salt Lake airport on my visits there recently.
It's an international airport. The workers there didn't seem predominantly LDS. They come from many backgrounds. Salt Lake being the Mormon capitol, demographically Mormons still only make up 34-41% of the local population.
It looked like any other airport to me, for a major hub.
The populace has looked blindingly white to me, coming in from the east coast. Try flying between SLC and Newark, as I did once. That was mind bending.
The Mormons do tend to stand out there (in the airport,) by their comportment and manner of speech. A young family sitting in front of me was unmistakably LDS. Those you end up sitting beside, especially the Mormons, are outgoing and tend to engage in conversation - and there again is telltale as to who's who.
