I lived there in 1977, briefly, for Army job training. Hot, humid nights and humongous cockroaches.

We need an opinion from Austin! The only place in Texas I'd live. Pretty liberal, culturally.

This is an example of objectifying people. The purpose of objectifying is to then scapegoat a group of people for problems--in this case poverty. Then, wage total war on the objectified group rather than attacking problems.

It's disgusting that a mayor who is supposed to represent all of the people in her jurisdiction should be so stupid as to objectify a group of people due to their personal and private views.
