Okay, so my cousin is on his mission in the phillipines and was supposed to come home this july. He is pushing his dates so that he isn't coming home until the middle of August. I don't get it, why would he want to stay longer? Is he secretly having fun, while everyone thinks that he's "preaching the gospel" my mom said that he's staying longer because "he felt like heavenly father wanted him to." Could there be any other reason why on earth he would want to actually stay longer??? Just curious, because it seems suspicious to me.

School doesn't start again until what, late August or September?

He sees it as a month of summer vacation (largely unaccountable; what can they do, send him home?).

There is a high probability he has a local girlfriend, maybe even (gasp) a *bishop's daughter*!

"he felt like heavenly father wanted him to"

If by "heavenly father" one means "his wiener," then yeah, that's an accurate assessment.

While it is often pointed out on this forum that many missionaries dislike their missions and can't wait to get home, I know there are some who wish they could stay on their missions much longer. These missionaries, I believe, sincerely believe they are serving God and their fellow man on their missions and love doing so.

I served in CA, LA mission in 92-93 and was asked to stay another month. I said no and left LA on 12-15. My mother and brother were in a car accident the night before. An earthquake hit Northridge, CA three weeks later.
