So, my new wife (damn, I love her) had a garbage bag after moving in with me. I saw two full size BOM. You know, the big hard covers. Anyway, I thought they were just as good for logs as anything else. Put them in the woodstove. Burned like hell. The only problem is needing a woodstove. Isn't it spring???

Awesome fire... :)

Some poor guy might fish out the book and read it which might draw him into the mormon cult.

Better to burn it? What are some other good ways to dispose of mormon trash?

Yeah, not even joking, my dad found one on top of the garbage pile while working at a bar and read it, then was converted by my mother on her mission.

They might be pretty burning away on a campfire, someplace where you're supposed to pack in or buy your fire fuel.

I like the idea of being under the stars and watching those silly BoM pages blazing away before turning black and disintegrating into ash.

Pass the s'mores!

Some of the ones I inherited went into my big burning barrel and some went into the landfill. The ones that burned did real well with a little diesel fuel on them.

I liked the big BofMs

I could sit a red cup on it. If I slamed it shut I could make it clap, clap, clap.

If I dropped it on the bed I could make it bounce. I could shake it, rotate it, back it up. As a missionary, if I rode with on my bike, it would jiggle.

Note to self... Cut down on E 40, lil jon... music.

My parents big leather bound quad sits on my bookshelf. Only reason I guess I haven't burned it is it had mom's handwriting in it....and I'm kinda sentimental when it comes to my folks.

What you SHOULD have done:

Go to a nearby sacrament meeting and have it announced you will AUCTION of the books, for a price. Failure to make any cash offers, and the books will be disposed of and burned in the trash.

Better than a burning bosom.

Now if the BOM's were intact on the kitchen table in the morning...

Different perspectives are fascinating. Previous comments lead me to think that many people feel burning a BOM is a sign of disdain or disrespect. It's not that way in some other churches. In the Episcopal Church the only acceptable ways to dispose of worn out or irreparably damaged Prayer Books is either respectful burning (not a burn barrel) or to bury the books. The concept is to return the elemental forms to the earth from whence they came

Burning the trash
Burying compost
Cutting them up
Marking up
Origami shapes
Paper mache
"Art" projects?

Ways to make (wasted) money back on them?
