I believe Jesus is/was very likable. The reason being is children adored being around him. Typically children like being around kind, funny, joking, happy entertaining people. They tend to shy away from rude, serious, unhappy people. That's why I believe he did have a sense of humor or at least a very likable personality to everyone from a tiny child to thousands of adults wandering around following him everywhere he went.
I don't think we see that in the scriptures, but the indirect evidence clearly shows it. Really I think Jesus was able to relate to pretty much everyone...after all he created us.
I read something about how humor has changed over time, and that expressions like this one-- (paraphrasing) "A rich man entering the kingdom of heaven is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle" --would have made everyone laugh.
The "Needle" was a very narrow passage in a wall where camels had to be unloaded to pass.
I don't find it particularly funny, but I'm just dull.
Jesus was feasting and pounding down the drink, when others said that he was a glutton and a winebiber. He hung out with tax collectors and other sinners. His reply was basically that we shall see who's the wiser. His partying was set for the evening.
Not the most reliable source but a JW friend of mine says that as God made us in his image, that includes all our inner feelings too. Therefore God must have a sense of humour. Because We do. Therefore he must too. and also, we must remember, He made the platypus didn't he?
and don't worry, I'm not heading over to the JW dark side :-D
