I went on a brief hiatus while I was having my laptop fixed and while I was visiting my daughter, son-in-law and..... My new grandson! I'm thrilled to be a new grandma.
Grandson was born the first week of February. He was 8 lb 4.5 oz, and was 21 inches long. Mom, Dad, and baby are all healthy.
I was able to fly out and visit them back east. Got in some really good grandma time, plus got everything set up on facebook and skype, so we can watch him grow long distance.
I know I missed a lot, so bear with me if I ask a bunch of dumb questions.
I am thrilled to be back! Hope all is going well with you!
Your visit to your daughter and grandson are divine - one of those things dreams coming true like in movies moments. I am glad you got the tech set up supporting connecting now you had to go home to your own home base.
Thank God for Skype! I have a few (remaining) TBM friends, who are long-distance grandparents, and they are too stubborn to use Skype or e-mail. They have computers, and friends have offered to teach them for free, but, no, too set in their ways.
You will be rewarded for being a Grandma who is "with it."
Applesauce, loved your story. There are so many parallels between our lives. I had a wicked stepmother who would make her own wheat bread that would rise about 2 inches. I had to cut that bread so thin for sandwiches, it almost fell apart. Two paper thin slices of 2 in high bread with an invisible layer of jelly was my lunch. We had oatmeal for breakfast that was way overcooked and was little more than a spoonful. Also resonate with the unfairness growing up. The male parental unit was not sexually abusive, but emotionally and physically. Plenty of gaslighting going around. At times, I wondered if my sister was writing your story. You write well. It was a long but compelling story.
