The lyrics are perfect for Exmos:

"Well I know it wasn't you who held me down
Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key
But I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this victory song
'Cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone..."

Bye-bye, church!!

Fly by night away from here,
change my life again.

That Eagles song meant so much to me as I was leaving the church. I also heard Wilson Phillips' cover of the same song and it really hit home to me.

How about this?

"F**k It (I Don't Want You Back)" by Eamon.

Look it up! :)

Some of the lyrics are appropriate. The ones that don't fit though are:

"Well I know it wasn't you who held me down" (Mormonism holds itself down, along with its members)

"Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free" (totally - only the truth, or instinct, sets one free)

"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key" (true, members are generally held captive through lies, guilt, tricks and family pressure through brainwashing cult practices)

Listening to that song when young had certain memories, and thoughts of freedom.

My favorite part of this song is when Glenn Frey says:
"All right, nighty night." at the very end.

If you haven't seen the documentary on The Eagles, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon (it is 6+ hours long) but totally takes you to a different place and time. I can remember hearing "The Long Run" on every radio channel while driving to Santa Cruz in 1975. Good times- great band.
