I have been gone from the board for quite a while and it was good to see familiar names. Stray Mutt, Dagny, PTLoma, SLCabbie, cl2, SusieQ >there are more but these I saw first day...

I was kind of surprised but many of you have been here since the beginning or nearly so.
This board always goes through stages and it seems pretty calm at the moment, and it moves slower than originally.

Just my observations and musings

Some of us still have that "pay it forward" thing going on!
I'm a long time senior and widow so I see the world from a different perspective now.
Yes, the board is like a little city. People coming and going, some very busy, some having really hard times, others; not so much. We have the one commonality that brings us together.

AS a nevermo I thought I was done with this board but I was just so angry! this gives me the chance to explain it wasn't his being here on the board that I objected to. it is the way he doesn't feel a need to SHARE anything he does with me. I mean in the beginning he had no interest, When he had just left the church he wanted nothing to DO with it anymore. So id be interested to know why he came here. Because hes not open at all. It would have been good if he'd told me instead of "oh hey I thought you'd be interested in this post by Stray Mutt" which was his way of telling me.

As a Mormon husband I don't think he was part of a couple but just acted alone. That's not ME so this doesn't work.

I have accepted he's not going to change but I'll be damned if I'm not going to speak up myself. I'm LILITH after all.

You just never know what people will do. Can we truly know anyone? I have my doubts.

I'm a relative newbie but I love reading posts from long-timers.

IMO your long experience brings something unique and important to the discussion. You're like the California redwoods or sequoias, mighty and tall and steadfast. For the rest of us it's great to know you're out there.

I guess that's better than some people.

Also I'm betting that some people here will understand that the damages done by the church are deeper than I had been able to understand. I had thought I did.

But learning and studying here for ten years didn't trump (man I hate that word now) his immersion in it. And I'm pretty good at psychology. Which he hates.

I love the redwood trees- probably one of my favorite living things ever.

But you gotta see the ground too. New posters are the air, the sunshine, the water and also seedlings. :-) We see the forest AND the trees and much more together.

So much for overworking THAT analogy!

Those of us who have recently left the church (even if only in our minds) owe you "regulars" a debt of gratitude. Three months ago, when I first discovered rfm, you were all new. Your insight and observations about the church were invaluable to me as I was making the transition out. Don't ever underestimate your value to newcomers and those who are struggling with their testimonies. So thank you all!

I remember a Lilith from the exmo social board. Are you the same person?

I found the original board in about November of 1999. I was on here from then until about four or five years ago. I was THAT Lilith and can't remember my nevermo name before that.
