Westcotes ward has gone! Which means in the past five years Leicester stake has shrunk from seven wards to four.

LDS lists the following.

Evington Ward

Loughborough Ward

So 5 wards, not 4 left.

I only know one LDS family in Leicester. Classic large (7 kids) TBM parents, highly committed. I don't think any of the kids are active now they're adults. Says it all really.

Membership in the UK appears to be leveling out. Although some wards have merged, mainly due to dips in Midlands activity, overall UK active membership appears static.

On the other hand, the Mormon church is currently enjoying massive success in South America, where people are converting in droves.

Meh...success? maybe. Massive success? Most definitely not. The Church may still be growing in South America, but nothing like the halcyon days of growth there in the 1980s and 1990s. Where the Church is really growing at the moment is West Africa, namely Ghana, Nigeria and Ivory Coast.

Oops, I forgot Stamford. Loughborough was "reorganised" a couple of years ago.

Also Rotherham branch and Littleborough Ward both closed this month! The slow death of the Mormon church in the UK continues! Happy New Year!

I know these closures are true. Holy Ghost gives me a burning in my bosom. I eagerly await more True Closings in the near future.

Also nationally activity rate for the UK is 18%!

That must mean the English are closer to 20%, since Scotland has about a 10% activity rate. LOL

Great News.

A few families from Leicester and Solihull moved to New Zealand, but some of those are inactive there now.

If it wasn't for big families of members it would be even smaller. Very few converts now and very few families converting!

So that means in January three units were dissolved in England! Rotherham, Littleborough and Westcoates! All three have appeared on the official list!

I have a family member on a mission over there. His e-mail letters are full of NOT converting. Such a waste of time over there. Many missed opportunities to truly appreciate the culture.
