Just calling it "amnesty" (where someone who reports a sexual assault isn't kicked out for "honor code violations") is the same old thinking. These victims haven't done anything that needs to be given "amnesty" anyway. And until the "amnesty" is fully approved, it's not "policy" -- it doesn't say how long it will be until approval is granted or not.

Frankly, it sounds more like some obfuscating PR BS than "going in the right direction."

BYU didn't do this because it is the right thing to do. School administration, in collaboration with the Mormon church, did this because they HAD to. Pretty much like blacks and the priesthood. Do Mormon church officials ever do the right thing without being backed into a corner?

It does SOUND good, but I am a bit dubious that it is all words and not real.

I hope I am wrong and that this does become real, victims deserve the be treated with compassion and not with vindictiveness.

Only LDS would find it praise worthy to announce that a sexual assault victim will be granted "amnesty". This is still severely f'ed up.
