Yes, that's very sad for the victims.

However...if you fall for, "Put $140,000 and gold jewelry in this bag, and don't open it or the blessing won't work!" then you should investigate mormonism, where, "the plates are under this cloth, but you can't look at them because you'll die" was one of the founding statements.
